Stretch ceilings are growing in popularity in the UK but we understand that they still might be a new concept for you. Maybe your builder or architect has recommended you use one for your pool or commercial building. So how do you go about finding a quality supplier and installer of stretch ceilings?
Easy Ceiling is the only UK based manufacturer of stretch ceilings and we have installed hundreds of stretch ceilings across the UK. You may decide to choose another supplier and installer, but hopefully this guide will help ensure you find a reputable company who will do a good job for you. We know from our own experience there are lots of building companies in the UK who may say they install stretch ceilings but in reality have limited experience. Stretch ceilings are a specialist area so we urge you to make sure whomever you use knows what they are doing!
Ask for recommendations
Firstly ask your builder or architect if there are any companies they have worked with before and would happily recommend. Alternatively if you know friends or other companies that have a stretch ceiling, ask them.
Search
If recommendations are not forthcoming or you want to spread the net a bit wider try google or whatever network you prefer to use to find companies. Most should have reviews prominent but also have a look at their projects pages and install locations to help you shortlist relevant companies.
Don’t use Check a Trade
For most building work we know sites like Check a Trade can be very helpful to find relevant suppliers but clients tell us that when they have found a company this way they don’t often know what they are doing, they have just ticked that they can install stretch ceilings.
Do use SPATA
If you are looking for a swimming pool ceiling, you might want to visit spata.co.uk which is the website for The Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA). Alongside swimming pool builders you will find associated trades including stretch ceiling companies like Easy Ceiling. All SPATA members work to agreed standards and a code of ethics so you can be assured you will be working with a reputable company.
Get multiple quotes
Once you feel like you have a few good companies to choose from, get in touch, tell them more about your project and get a quote. Ideally the installer should visit to meet you and understand the project fully so they can give you a detailed realistic quote. At this stage it would be good to get an idea of what you want? There are quite a lot of different options available and a good stretch ceiling company should be able to help you with the design including giving you design visuals (like the one Easy Ceiling did for a recent project in Kent below) so you can envisage your final ceiling.
Your experience with companies at this stage will give you a good idea of what they will be like to work with. The actual experience, with all the challenges associated with building projects, is unlikely to be as good as when they are courting your business, so if the initial experience is bad or slow, take them off your list asap!
Check out client projects
Once you are getting close to making your final decision, look at relevant projects in more detail. Even better, ask if you can visit these projects or speak to the end client to find out more about their experience.
Check out reviews
You might have noted an overall review score but now is the time to read reviews in a bit more detail and challenge the company about any concerns you might have.
Select your company
Hopefully by now, you’ve done the hard work, so the decision on who is the best company to work with is evident! To double-check you have made the correct decision, verify the company’s services and products meet industry standards and hold relevant certifications for safety and quality. Also check a warranty for your ceiling is included (Easy Ceiling offers 10 years as standard) and the company offers after-care services such as maintenance and repair. Finally, ask for a formal contract to formalise your agreement and ensure both parties are covered.
Proceed!
Soon you’ll be the proud owner of a brand new stretch ceiling. Like this cinema room ceiling Easy Ceiling installed in Hertfordshire!
