Most stretch ceilings come with a 10 year guarantee, well at least Easy Ceiling’s do, but they often last much longer.
Read this blog to find out why.
How long can they last then?
Stretch ceilings have been around for a long time. Since Ancient Egyptian times actually. But in the 20th century they saw an increase in popularity in the UK in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Over the last few years we have replaced quite a few stretch ceilings in leisure centres and residential properties installed at that time so they have lasted 30 years! And this is an older version of stretch ceilings. Buy a new stretch ceiling today, with the newest, strongest materials and it would be reasonable to expect it might last even longer than 30 years.
Why are they so durable?
It seems obvious but stretch ceilings last a long time because they are built to last. They are made of super strong PVC elastic. So strong our director Dmitri likes to stand on them to illustrate the point. They are very easy to keep clean and in good order, they don’t absorb gases or water, they are 100% waterproof. Consequently they don’t corrode or suffer from condensation or damp. And in the highly unlikely scenario that they do suffer from damage, say a tear, then they are easy to repair.
How does their durability compare with other ceiling options?
As a recap, Easy Ceiling’s stretch ceilings are guaranteed to last a minimum of 10 years, but they can last over 30 years. Popular ceiling options like plastered ceilings, plasterboard or suspended ceiling panels only last 5 years before they need replastering or replacing. See our comparison of stretch ceilings versus other ceiling materials for more details.
And what about in terms of cost?
We have to admit stretch ceilings might cost a little more than some of the other options mentioned above in terms of material but when you consider they can last at least two to three times longer they work out a lot cheaper in the long run. Even more so when you consider they are a lot cheaper and quicker to install.
Perhaps most importantly, because they last a long time they are better for the environment and, unlike all the other ceiling materials mentioned above, they are also 100% recyclable.
So if you want a long lasting, cost-effective ceiling, which is easy to maintain and is good for the environment, give Easy Ceiling’s stretch ceilings a look. Contact us now for a free quote.
